Boston Public Schools Administrator Rashaun Martin WF ’96

Rashaun J. Martin serves Boston Public Schools as the Managing Director of Recruitment, Cultivation and Diversity Programs in the Office of Human Capital department. Though the position is a new one, Martin has made it his own by challenging the deeply rooted systemic racism in BPS through various different approaches, among them a degree completion program for employees and a comprehensive portfolio of Retention Programs and Services. Martin is not only a sponsor of the Ward Fellowship, but also was an alumni the program himself; Martin even created the Ward Coordinator position and was the Fellowship’s first student coordinator. Martin was also involved in his college community, at the Catholic University of America. During his time in college, he served as student president and was behind the construction of  a new recreational center for the school that is still  in use today. Martin is also on the University’s board of trustees. Wherever Rashaun Martin goes, he not only impacts the place itself, but improves the community for the better, by always being kind and welcoming to everyone. Martin carries his Boston Latin pride and history with him while he goes about his days in his usual congenial manner, greeting  everyone he works with and forming connections with everyone he meets.
