Wu entered public service first as a law fellow for former Boston Mayor Menino. Later, she became the first Asian-American woman to serve on the Boston City Council and then became the first Council President of color by a unanimous vote. On the Council she worked on issues such as healthcare equity, access to language translation, and many other issues. Her efforts continue to impact the people of Boston in a positive way. As Mayor, she focuses on initiatives such as affordable housing, closing the racial wealth gap, climate justice, and many more. She currently lives in Roslindale with her husband and her two children. Mayor Michelle Wu is a very caring and down to earth person and is trying to make Boston a better place for everyone to live.
