Attorney General Andrea Campbell ’00
To Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell, purpose drives passion. Born, raised, and still residing in Boston, Campbell has spent the past decade giving back to her state. After graduating from Boston Latin School in 2000, Campbell attended Princeton University and UCLA Law School. Entering the field of public service as a legal counsel to former Governor Deval Patrick, Campbell progressed to become the City Counselor President before being appointed Attorney General in 2022.
Growing up, Campbell was no stranger to tragedy — she lost both her biological parents and twin brother, Andre, before age 30. Driven by Andre’s death to abandon her work in the private sector and pursue her passion for public service, Campbell has devoted her life to making sure that government is accessible to everyone while advocating for those to whom it is not. Rather than being limited by her trauma, Campbell has found purpose in tragedy, along with the notion that nothing is promised.
Despite recently assuming the new, higher-profile role of Attorney General, Campbell has not lost sight of herself. “You have to be able to love yourself,” she shares. “I’m 41, young, and fabulous.” Her tightly-packed schedule does not stop her from making time for her passions, including her faith and family. Aside from fearlessly serving her people, Campbell fearlessly serves her family as a wife and mother to two boys. She continues to be a trailblazing, caring, and accessible leader both in and out of office.
As Attorney General, Andrea Campbell seeks to tackle issues concerning education, criminal justice, human rights, and so much more. She approaches the future with hope, determination, and excitement.
