Michelle Wang is a rising senior at Boston Latin School. She was born in Boston and grew up in West Roxbury.

In school, Michelle is an Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, the Argo. As a previous writer and editor for the forum section, journalism was Michelle’s first outlet for expressing her opinions on timely topics. Michelle also pursues her passion for advocacy outside of school as a Committee Chair of the Youth Lead the Change Committee on the Boston Mayor’s Youth Council. She co-leads the process in allocating one million dollars of the city’s budget by outreaching to youth around the city. She strongly believes in the power that young people hold in driving change and hopes to push for more seats at the table in important conversations.

Last summer, Michelle was a Deitch Fellow interning at the Elevate Prize Foundation. There, she was able to gain experience working in the nonprofit sector and was especially interested in speaking with the various changemakers —- public figures, founders of grassroots organizations, and other professionals —- that Elevate supported.

Michelle was inspired to become a Ward Fellow because she wants to continue and expand her interest in public service. Without much prior experience in the judicial system, as an intern at the Committee for Public Counsel Services, Michelle hopes to explore the intersections between law and public service.
