Max Dietch is a rising Senior at Boston Latin School. He was born in West Roxbury, MA, and has grown up there.

Since coming to Boston Latin School, Max has engaged in civic service by becoming an officer of the BLS charter of Operation Smile and regularly volunteering at school. At Operation Smile, Max has worked to organize events, donate toys, and raise money for children in developing countries who have cleft chins and are in need of surgery. Other volunteer activities that he has participated in at BLS include praefecting in the Keefe Library and giving school tours to welcome prospective members of the BLS community. Max is also a member of the Boston Latin School Tennis team and a member of the Speech and Debate club.

Public service has always been a large part of Max’s life even before coming to BLS. Since he was young, he has always participated in helping others whether it was donating or baking for homeless shelters. This has continued into his newfound interest in the zoning laws and how it affects Boston residents’ high rent compared to the rest of the country. He hopes to continue his exploration of public service through the legislative system this summer as an intern for State Representative Brandy Fluker Oakley.
