Kevin Zhong is a rising senior at Boston Latin School. He was born in Brighton, MA, where he has lived his entire life.
In school, Kevin is a member of the mock trial team and a Head News Editor for the school newspaper, the Argo. In addition, Kevin represents the youth voices of Allston, Brighton, South End, and Fenway as an Elected Neighborhood Co-Liaison on the Boston Mayor’s Youth Council. As teenagers are unable to vote in political elections, Kevin takes his responsibility seriously in ensuring that he elevates youth voices to the highest levels of city government on issues that directly affect young people, such as education. Kevin is also very interested in politics and regularly follows the latest news in U.S. politics.
Last summer, Kevin interned for the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court’s Judicial Youth Corps program, where he discovered an interest in learning about law. Through working at the Eastern Housing Court and observing numerous eviction trials, Kevin noticed the deep inequities within the judicial system as oftentimes, renters with no legal representation have to go against experienced lawyers representing landlords. Kevin also observed many high-stakes criminal trials at the Suffolk Superior Court. These experiences, as well as meeting many judges, lawyers, and court staff during his internship, taught Kevin that a career in law can make a substantial impact on people’s lives. He hopes to continue his exploration of public service through the judicial system this summer as an intern at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Kevin became the 2024 Coordinator for the Ward Fellowship.
