Juliet McVay is a graduating BLS senior and will be attending Wellesley College in the fall. She currently resides in West Roxbury where she has lived her whole life and has built a strong connection to the community through sports and other activities.

Previously, she has worked at the New England Aquarium, and over the course of three summers she has experience in a variety of positions. With a strong connection to Boston and an eagerness to help people Juliet started her work at the Aquarium by assisting the public in the visitor experience department. In later summers she worked directly with marine mammals such as seals and sea lions as well as with sea turtles at the Aquarium’s rescue and rehabilitation center in Quincy.

At Boston Latin School she focuses her time on both athletic and intellectual activities. Juliet has played on the soccer team for her entire high school career as well as competing as a hurdler on the track team. Additionally, she has been a member of the Latin School’s newspaper, the Argo, since her freshman year where she began by writing articles for the Sports section. Eventually Juliet became a Head Sports Editor where she helped to lead, organize, and brainstorm for the sports section of the newspaper.

After working at the New England Aquarium and even being a member of the New England Aquarium’s Youth Council that worked to engage the youth in Boston and to aid the youth workforce at the Aquarium she became interested in the connection between public policy and the way that institutions implement decisions. Juliet became inspired to become a Ward Fellow through her interest in public policy as well as her time in the AP US Government and Policy course. When Juliet took the course her senior year her interest in political science grew and she was eager to become a Ward Fellow. Now, Juliet is looking forward to working for CPCS Chair Anthony Benedetti 83’ and expanding her knowledge over the course of the summer.
