Jamara Liz Bonilla is an 18 year-old Puerto Rican girl who currently resides in Hyde Park with her parents, Albeiro and Sheila Restrepo and two siblings Keila Bonilla and Jeffrey Borges. Jamara is a recent graduate of the Boston Latin School. She began attending BLS in 1995, and graduated this spring. She is looking forward to continuing her education at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. During her career at Latin School, Jamara occupied a lot of her time in extra curricular activities or community service. She has been an active member in the Talented and Gifted Hispanics (TAG) since her sophomore year. During her senior year, Jamara also took on a leadership role as Secretary of TAG to help ensure the success of the program.
With respect to her political interests, Jamara has completed a volunteer internship at Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner’s Office, and performed well with this school-sponsored program. It was through that internship that became inspired her to continue her work in politics and service. She now holds a Ward Fellowship that is sponsored by the Secretary of the Commonwealth William F. Galvin, working at the Citizen Information Service.
