Hashi Abdulle is a rising senior at Boston Latin School with interests in neuroscience, economics, and statistics. Born in Helsinki, Finland, in 2008 to Somali parents, he moved to Boston at the age of 6 and grew up in the close-knit community of West Roxbury. Some of his formative experiences include attending Dugsi (Islamic Weekend School) with childhood friends and spending time at the local YMCA.
Hashi has focused much of his academic and professional work on community impact, especially through STEM. He has experience in website creation, data collection/cleaning, and coding. In the summer of 2024, he worked with Ph.D. candidate Raechel Walker of the MIT Media Lab on a research project for MIT Sea Grant, which explored how climate technologies impact marginalized communities.
Beyond research, Hashi co-led the launch of a BPS-sponsored leadership conference at Northeastern University, bringing together youth and established professionals. He is also the project leader and founder of Mirora, a digital platform designed to simplify the search for STEM-related extracurriculars and opportunities.
This summer, Hashi will intern at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office through the Ward Fellowship. With long-term aspirations in foreign policy, he looks forward to learning from the AGO’s work in civil rights and state-level justice.
