Elias Wilson is a rising senior at Boston Latin School. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and moved to Boston when he was 8 years old. Since moving to Boston, Elias has lived in Downtown, East Boston, and Fenway.
While in school Elias enjoys being a member of BLS Model UN, being co-president of the BLS Mechanical Engineering Club, and sailing on the BLS sailing team. Elias does not have a lot of prior experience with public service but is interested in politics from the local level to the world stage. Elias has always been interested in foreign affairs and enjoys traveling to other countries. By observing how cities in other states and countries function, Elias has grown more interested in how the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts serve their citizens. Coming from a family with a wide variety of political views, and having lived in another state, Elias looks at Boston through a unique, and often critical lens. He hopes to help improve the lives of everyone living in this city in the future and make sure those people are better served by their public servants. Elias is also interested in transportation and infrastructure, especially how the difference between good and bad transportation and infrastructure can be the difference between a thriving city with plentiful opportunity, and a city where most are barely scraping by.
Elias is excited to learn more about how the Commonwealth functions by working as an intern in the office of State Representative Adrian Madaro this summer. With this experience, he hopes to gain a better understanding of how government services are utilized by some of the state’s most vulnerable populations in East Boston.
