Brandon Flores is a rising senior at Boston Latin School. He has lived in East Boston for his entire life, and his family comes from El Salvador, which forms a major part of his identity.

At BLS, he leads BLS Talented and Gifted Latino as president. He also writes for the school newspaper, the Argo, and plays violin both in school and after school. During his free time, he also enjoys composing music of his own, spanning from classical, to pop, to Latin musical genres.

He serves his community by tutoring for Steppingstone, a local nonprofit dedicated to educating members of historically marginalized communities. He also volunteers at his local Catholic parish, serving children and youth from ages 8 to 17, reflecting his concern for education and opportunities for young people.

His interest in public service has been developed through his experiences in the East Boston community, which is largely made up of immigrants. During the summer of 2023, he volunteered at the East Boston Community Council, which provides support with immigration processes, English language classes, and notary services.

The love he has for his community and the people he encounters drive him to seek change. He has concerns regarding the growing housing crisis and limited educational opportunities which impact many hard working families. He hopes to learn more about how the government can best act and address these issues, so that he can make a difference in the future.
