Brian Tran is a graduating senior at Boston Latin School with a passion in business, public policy, and ethics. He was born and raised in Dorchester to first-generation immigrants from Vietnam. In his free time, he also enjoys music and writing.
At BLS, he served as President of the Bridging Generations Initiative, seeking to enrich ties and intergenerational understanding, and Vice-President of the Service Collective, where he helped lead service and teambuilding activities amongst the student body.
Outside of school, he was deeply involved as a Teen Counselor at St. Stephen’s Youth Programs, where he worked with children of grades 5 – 8 after school in Nubian Square, which involved tutoring, mentoring, and fostering belonging, community, and engagement. The bright faces and financial strain he witnessed here, in addition to his extensive experiences in community service, have sparked his interest in public service and policy.
Throughout his high school career, Brian’s been deeply involved in not just the BLS community, but also that of Greater Boston; and his passions, rooted in the legislation that supervises the people and city that he’s spent his whole life knowing, will only grow with more vigor as he interns in the office of State Representative Fluker-Reid over the summer.
