Sahra Kamara, a Sierra Leonean-American student at Boston Latin School from Hyde Park is driven by a deep commitment to community advocacy in public service. Her dedication is shaved by her parents who modeled the power of helping others throughout her childhood. Witnessing their careers first hand instilled in Sahra a strong sense of empathy and believe that delivery compassion and action can transform lies.
Sahra has actively used these values and turned them into community action specifically in her advocacy for variations of groups. In previous summers, she’s collaborated with peers her age to use performing arts to amplify immigrant voices and educate children at that the Boys and Girls Club and many other community centers on how to support immigrant communities.
Looking ahead, Sahra aims to use her motivation to pursue a career where she can advocate for the mental health of underprivileged communities. With this opportunity as a 2026 Ward Fellow, she hopes to enhance her leadership skills and tackle complex social issues. Ultimately, she plans to bring the insights and values gained from the Fellowship back to her school and the broader Boston community continuing to build safe, supportive spaces for all.
