Nayeli Quiles is a recent graduate of Boston Latin, who will be attending Boston University in the Fall to study Political Science. She was born and raised in Boston, and is a second generation Puerto Rican American.
Nayeli got her start in politics and public service at a young age, when interning with the then newly elected State Representative Liz Miranda, when she was only 15 years old. From then on, she continued to seek out opportunities to further engage with politics and issues she wanted to address in her community. In 2020, Nayeli worked on an exhibit on voter education and researched methods of connecting to youth during her time as at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. During her junior at Latin School, she also had the opportunity to work with a few students at the Boston Public School’s Office of Equity, where she spent her time creating a guidebook for middle school students transitioning to high school, in addition to speaking with departments heads on how to increase the accessibility of the BPS website.
Her time at Boston Latin School was invaluable in fostering her passion for public service, politics, and even history. She took advantage of the multitude of history classes Latin offers, taking a total of seven between her freshman and senior year. Nayeli was also an active participant in the school community, she served as a Topol Peace and Non-Violence Fellow her senior year, and was also a member of the Cheer team for the majority of her Latin School career.
Nayeli is excited to further explore public service and politics during her time as a Ward Fellow this summer.
