![]() Sinead Keegan is entering her senior year at Boston Latin School, where she has been a student since the seventh grade. She is originally from Ireland and now resides in Brighton with her family. She enjoys playing soccer, softball and other sports. She has been volunteering at the Irish Immigration Center for a number of years and recently participated in a program at University of Massachusetts Boston to promote awareness of immigration and naturalization issues among high school and college students. Her activities at school include the mock trial team, public speaking competitions and a politics and debate club, Politicus. The previous president of Politicus first introduced Sinead to the Ward Fellowship program, which she saw as a unique opportunity to see how government actually works. She is now working with Speaker of the House Thomas Finneran and thoroughly enjoying herself. She is learning a great deal about state government and hopes to bring that back to Politicus. She encourages any Latin students with an interest in politics and those who enjoy being involved in their communities to apply for a Fellowship because it is a wonderful opportunity and a lot of fun. Sinead is strongly considering a career in law. She believes that her work in the State House has given her first-hand experience that will help her in whatever path she chooses. For right now, she plans to graduate from Boston Latin with the Class of 2001 and go on to college. |
