From a young age, District Attorney Kevin Hayden felt a calling to public service. He has fulfilled that through years of work at the Suffolk County DA’s office.

Hayden grew up in Boston, attending Noble and Greenough for high school. After graduating Dartmouth College with a B.A. in English, he received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Fresh out of law school with a purpose of serving the general public, Hayden solely applied to work at the Suffolk County DA’s office and obtained the position of Assistant District Attorney. There, he became the Chief of the Safe Neighborhood Initiative.

After 11 years as an ADA, Hayden moved into private practice with multiple firms including Dhar Law. There, he was a senior associate. During this time, he also served as a bar advocate for the Committee for Public Counsel Services.

Realizing he wanted to go back to the public sector of law, Hayden returned to the Suffolk County DA’s office. He eventually became the chairperson for the Sex Offender Registry Board.

Following Rachel Rollins’s resignation as District Attorney, Governor Baker appointed Hayden as the interim D.A. for Suffolk County. So far, Hayden has established initiatives such as the Firearms Rapid Indictment Program, which aims to accelerate indictments involving firearms in an attempt to address recent gun violence issues growing across America.
