Representative Nick Collins was born and raised in South Boston and represents the 4th Suffolk District. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Committee on Personnel and Administration. Rep. Collins is also a member of the Committees on Ways & Means; Redistricting; Technology and Intergovernmental Affairs. A huge advocate for public safety, Rep. Collins successfully secured state funding for hazardous materials training for the Boston Fire Department as well as lobbied the Boston Police Department in order to reinstate the daytime drug unit both in his district and around Boston. In 2011 he was recognized as one of the top 50 state legislative leaders in the US at the Emerging Leaders Conference by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation. Aside from his legislative work Rep. Collins is a founding board member of UP Academy of Boston and UP Academy of Dorchester. He is also an Advisory Board member of Excel High School in South Boston, and a co-founder of the South Boston Leadership Initiative. A graduate of Boston Latin School and Babson College, Rep. Collins still resides in South Boston and is continuously looking to improve his district.
