Councilor Matt O’Malley is not only a member of the Boston Latin School class of 1997, but also a former Ward fellow, class of 1996. He is also the first Ward Fellow to hold public office.  Councilor O’Malley grew up in Roslindale and currently resides in Jamaica Plain. After Boston Latin, he graduated from the George Washington University in Washington DC. Councilor O’Malley currently serves as the representative for District 6, an area composed of West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, as well as parts of other neighborhoods such as Roslindale ,Mission Hill, and Roxbury. Councilor O’Malley was first elected to the Boston City Council in 2010 and was subsequently reelected in the 2013 and 2015 elections. In the 2013 election, Councilor O’Malley beat previous mayor Tom Menino’s election for most votes received for city councilor ever, receiving 85% of the district vote.  O’Malley is currently the chair of the Environment and Sustainability Committee and also serves as Vice Chairs the City, Neighborhood Services, and Veteran’s Affairs Committee.
