Gabriela “Gigi” Coletta currently serves as the Boston City Councilor representing District 1 which spans the North End, East Boston, and Charlestown. Her passion for public service began at a young age where she attended community meetings with her mother. Shortly after graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 2015 with a degree in Political Science and minor in Human Rights, she became the Community Liaison for State Representative Adrian Madaro. Then, she was elected as the Democratic State Committeewoman for the 1st Suffolk and Middlesex district in 2016 and to the Ward 1 Democratic Committee in 2020. Councilor Coletta has continued her efforts to make Boston accessible and equitable for all throughout her career. Prior to being elected, she worked to ensure the Downtown Waterfront and the New England Aquarium were welcoming to all as the External Relations Manager. She also held the positions of campaign manager and Chief of Staff for senator Lydia Edwards during her time as a City Councilor. In the few months since she was elected, Councilor Coletta has jumped straight in to ensure her constituents’ voices and concerns are heard, gotten budget amendments passed and fought to receive federal funding to District One communities.
