Cathleen “Katie” Sullivan has lived in Boston her entire life, and entered Boston Latin in the seventh grade and will be a senior in the fall. She is currently looking at colleges in the Boston area and in Washington, D.C.

Katie is quite a busy girl during the school year. She is involved in the music department, playing her saxophone in the Senior Concert Band and the Football Band. She also is a member of the Boston Latin Show Choir. Katie is also an athlete, participating on the Varsity Girls’ Basketball team, and the Varsity Outdoor Track Team.

Katie is involved in many community service projects. She is a tutor for the Boston Latin sponsored program, Saturday Success School. She also enjoyed coaching a basketball team in the winter for the local community center, and is coaching a softball team for her parish.

Last summer, Katie was involved with the Judicial Youth Corps, in which she was placed at the Suffolk Family and Probate Office. She enjoyed working with the probation officers as well as the support staff that served the people in Suffolk County. Her experience at the court led her to want to pursue a career in the social sciences or the law.

Katie applied to the Ward Fellowship with hopes of having the experience of working in a public service office. She is currently working in the legal department of the Massachusetts Port Authority under the instruction of Virginia Buckingham.
